Fire Safety in the Workplace

As an employer in England or Wales, you are responsible for the fire safety of every person on your premises; whether they are employees, colleagues or visitors of any kind. Some elements of fire safety may seem like common sense, but it’s important to know what is required of you by law.

• Carry out regular fire risk assessments
• Consider who may be especially at risk
• Remove or reduce the risk of fire as far as is reasonably possible
• Provide general fire precautions to deal with any remaining risks
• Take measures to provide protection from flammable or explosive substances
• Create a plan to deal with any emergencies that arise
• Provide training to ensure that your staff are aware of the above plan
